When a regional UK hospital reviewed its rising energy costs and carbon obligations, it identified on-site solar as a way to reduce electricity spend without compromising clinical operations. A 305kWp commercial solar PV system was installed to support the hospital’s high daytime electricity demand across wards, diagnostic areas, and core services.
The system now delivers measurable operational and environmental benefits:
With consistent daytime baseload demand from HVAC systems, lighting, and medical equipment, hospitals are particularly well suited to solar PV, maximising self-consumption and improving payback while supporting NHS and private sector net zero targets.
