When a UK university assessed its energy consumption and carbon reduction targets, on site solar was identified as a practical way to lower electricity costs across teaching and support facilities. A 191kWp solar PV system was installed to serve daytime demand from lecture theatres, laboratories, IT infrastructure, and shared campus services.
The installation delivers clear operational and environmental benefits:
University campuses often consist of multiple buildings, allowing phased solar rollouts and high daytime consumption driven by teaching, labs, IT systems, and facilities management. This makes higher education estates well suited to scalable solar deployment with predictable performance.
